Bamburi Community Survey
Monday, July 11, 2011 @ 04:07 AM
In June 2011 Calvin D’Souza, an experienced researcher in developing nations, conducted a survey in the community in which ACTION THIS DAY is working.
Interviews were held with 15 of 70 households that have children benefiting from our free education program at the Kookaburra Community School.
- The children benefitting from our free education program live on 25 Kenyan Shillings per day, equivalent to 25 Australian cents or 17 British pence.
- 50% of households live in one room despite having on average 6.5 members.
- Parents stated that their children’s English, discipline and courtesy have improved since joining the Kookkaburra Community School.
